Laughter is the Best Medicine – How laughter leads to optimal functioning.

·        Katie West of The Levity Project

Webster’s defines levity as “lack of appropriate seriousness or earnestness; fickleness, irreverence”.  Interestingly however, the definition of levity back in the early 1900’s was “rare lightness of weight; buoyancy ”.  We’ve turned levity into an enemy and a distraction from success – it has gained a negative connotation!

Realistically though, we can not function optimally on either a personal or professional level without a better understanding and grasp of levity in our lives.   It gives us a sense of buoyancy and feeling ‘lighter’ than what’s around you.  It can truly affect a person’s outlook and their sense of personal power to make changes, to progress from one challenge to the next, to improve.  In fact laughter has been proven to help your brain take in information and retain knowledge.

This month we’ll learn more about the importance of laughter, play, gratitude and celebration and how we can affect laughter and buoyancy in our lives to create a paradigm shift.  Important note – come prepared to laugh because this will be an interactive session where we will be practicing laughter and levity.

She introduces the practices of laughter (laughter yoga) and play to individuals and organizations to affect a greater sense of motivation, connection, creativity, and celebration in their lives and their work environments.

Katie is also the founder of The Levity Project whose mission is to bring people together who see themselves as agents of change toward creating an upward spiral of positivity and possibility in our world.  The Levity Project's goal is to deepen our societal understanding that engaging in levity is critical to individual and collective success.

In addition to being a coach, Katie is a speaker, facilitator, and author.

The ACE regular meeting has networking, a buffet breadfast, and a speaker.  Guests are welcome!
