John Burns and Joe Powers, Managing Director and Principal at Maine Venture Fund, respectively, will engage ACE members on the topic of small private company governance. Having served board roles at 50+ Maine companies over the past 20 years, the MVF team will share best practices for those seeking Board roles and those helping client companies to form boards.
Our Speakers: Joe Powers / John Burns
John Burns has thirty-six years of institutional investing experience; the last twenty as MVF Managing Director, where his responsibilities include the full range of venture capital investment activities. He has been directly involved with bringing risk capital to more than sixty Maine companies, and has led the Fund through a number of successful exits. A UMaine alumni, John holds an MS from Penn State and an MBA from Babson College.
Joe Powers joined Maine Venture Fund in 2019. Prior to MVF, he worked for a number of startup technology firms in a variety of roles. Joe also has experience as an entrepreneur and angel investor and volunteers as a SCORE mentor. Joe is an alumnus of Middlebury and Tuck (MBA).
